Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers must commit to 24 hours annually. Volunteers must attend volunteer orientation and any additional training needed for each program. Volunteer orientation is online. The cost of joining the volunteer program is a one-time fee of $30 background check. If this is cost prohibitive, please reach out to cblumenberg@sabot.org. Volunteers are required to be over 18.

To ensure a secure and thorough screening process, all prospective applicants are required to pay a non-refundable background check fee upfront. Once you summit your background check fee at the link below, email cblumenberg@sabot.org and you will be contacted with a link to procced with the background check and full application.

Please note: The background check fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the background check. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and trustworthy community.

Garden Guide

Volunteers learn about the Garden and how to use informal education to connect visitors to nature. Garden Guides lead walks, assist with adult programming, discovery carts, and other programs as they occur to facilitate nature connection in the Garden.

Garden Maintenance Volunteer

Garden maintenance volunteers perform routine garden installation and maintenance duties including but not limited to pruning, planting, raking, mulching, watering, and/or weeding. Volunteers may choose to train to work in all areas of the Garden or may opt to work in a specific area(s) under the supervision of experienced horticulturists.

Internships

The Garden offers various types of internships throughout the year. These internships include horticulture, marketing, and education. To receive information regarding internships at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, please email the Volunteer Specialist at cblumenberg@sabot.org.

Intern Qualifications:
• Interns must agree to a criminal background check
• Interns must attend any orientation/training needed

Corporate Groups

Corporate groups have the opportunity to volunteer at the Garden. Volunteering is a great team-building exercise for employees and helps keep the Garden beautiful.
