Storytime in the Garden featuring Fantastic Flowers with Author Susan Stockdale

Author Susan Stockdale will be joining us for Storytime as a guest reader! Families are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on during story time. Recommended for Early Childhood, ages 5 and under.

Fantastic Flowers presents 17 flowers from around the world that resemble actual things, from flying birds to sleeping babies to ballerinas! Author/illustrator Susan Stockdale’s vivid, rhyming text pairs with bright, bold illustrations to bring to life this dazzling display of surprising blooms. Stockdale is the author and illustrator of 11 picture books that celebrate nature. Her books, including Stripes of All Types, Bird Show and Line Up! Animals in Remarkable Rows, have won a variety of awards including the ALSC Notable Picture Book, NCTE Notable Children’s Book in the Language Arts, NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book for Students K-12, and the Bank Street College of Education Best Children’s Books of the Year. Her vibrant illustrations and lyrical prose elicit praise. The Washington Post wrote, “If the paintings are the feast, Stockdale’s words are the dessert.” She lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
